St. Jude College of Rehabilitation Sciences - Physical Therapy Launches Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Program
St. Jude College is the cradle of global professionals. In this light, St. Jude College of Rehabilitation Sciences - Physical Therapy offers Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] and Acupuncture Program for Physical Therapy students starting this First Semester School Year 2008-2009. The TCM and Acupuncture Program is included in the curriculum of the course of Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. The curriculum is duly recognized and approved by the Commission on Higher Education [CHED]. The program consists of academic and clinical fields of study.
Based on an International Memorandum of Understanding of SJC, Philippines and the People's Republic of China , there is an exclusive global faculty and student exchange program between these two institutions. The Academic Program is taken at St. Jude College Manila located at Don Quijote corner Dimasalang Streets Sampaloc, Manila as a professional subject. Further, the Clinical Program is taken at Zhaoqing Medical College and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Hospital in Guangdong Province & Liuzhou Medical College and Tumor Hospital in Guangxi Province . Both institutions are distinguished schools and hospitals in China . The students train as Physical Therapy clinical interns as part of the World Class Rehabilitation Scientists PT Clinical Internship Program.
St. Jude College of Rehabilitation Sciences - Physical Therapy is the first, and the only Physical Therapy school in the Philippines which offers both Academic and Clinical programs as part of its BSPT curriculum. When SJC PT students graduate, they are not only eligible to take national and international licensure examinations but are also qualified to take the international License in Acupuncture [LAc] as well. Dr. Melecio Pena III, a diplomate and fellow of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and college dean and Mr. Franz-Anton C. Lim, a Physical Therapy clinical intern already underwent training with certificate in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Liuzhou Medical College and Tumor Hospital and are both eligible for the License in Acupuncture program also in the People's Republic of China.
Global and local employment, masteral and doctoral degrees in Physical Therapy are also included in the forthcoming programs of St. Jude College of Rehabilitation Sciences - Physical Therapy. |
