Whoever said that hospital rooms should always be painted white? On its 53rd year,
St. Jude General Hospital has broken old conventions as they renovated their halls and rooms by adding a splash of colors…lots of it.
Working with a team of architect of architects
and interior designers, St. Jude General Hospital has drawn up plans for a complete renovation of the hospital with an emphasis on color schemes and designs that, accordingly to President
Evangeline Del Rosario “are meant to please the eyes and soothe the soul.”
Under the plan, each of the five floors of the hospital will have a different color scheme, all in cool shades of pastel and accented by wood textures on the cabinets and bumper rails on the walls of hallways.
To complement the walls, the floors will be fitted with imported vinyl linoleum that feature a unique mosaic of varied themes and characters lining up the center of the hallway floors. The second floor for instance has the beach setting complete with shoreline, starfishes and other marine animals to match the sunshiny sky-blue walls.
According to Dr. Del Rosario, the new design for the hospital is in consonance with St. Jude’s thrust of being a “family friendly” hospital. “This new look for St. Jude Hospital is envisioned to not only delight visitors but more importantly for patients, especially children, to feel more at home and cheerful during their time of recovery from sickness,” she added.
Equally thrilled are the hospital staff who look forward to the renovation’s completion. They believe the new colors will not only help lift the spirits of patients but also boost morale for hospital employees jaded by the daily routine of work.
The renovation which started August last year with the 2nd floor is now in full swing and is expecting completion before the end of the first quarter of this year.
Interested medical practitioners are invited to visit and meet with hospital officers for a tour of the hospital’s facilities.
