Respiratory Therapist a part of the hospital medical team that assists physicians in the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with cardio pulmonary disorders. Oversees the daily operation and management of the different cardiopulmonary services available and given such as general therapeutic care, critical care, emergency, diagnostic and support services.
Services Offered:
Aerosol Therapy
Promotes bronchial hygiene and administers aerosolized medication through nebulizer or pulmoaide.
Chest Physiotherapy
Consists of therapeutic techniques that are used to maintain tracheobronchial hygiene, such as postural drainage, percussion and vibration.
a.1 Postural drainage – the labor or segmental bronchus is geometrically positioned so that secretions will flow down into a larger airway for removal.
Lung Expansion Therapy
a.1 Incentive Spirometry – a technique used to encourage deep breathing in order to optimize lung inflation through the use of incentive spirometer.
a.2 Respiratory muscle training and breathing exercise are intended to increase respiratory muscular strength in order to improve the ventilatory pattern.
a.3 Splinting of the chest and controlled coughing are used to maintain bronchial hygiene.
Peak Expiratory Flow Rate
The peak expiratory flow rate measures how fast a person can exhale air. It is one of many tests that measure the function of the airways, which are commonly affected by diseases such as asthma, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, usually a combination of emphysema and chronic bronchitis).
Arterial Blood Gase
A useful diagnostic tool for the clinical assessment of ventilation, acid-based status and oxygen.
Mechanical Ventilator
Is a machine that gives artificial ventilation.
Pulmonary Function Testing
A basic diagnostic that used to detect and evaluate pulmonary disease.
