St. Jude General Hospital and Medical Center, a non sectarian institution,
was established in honor of St Jude depicting the true Christian
spirit with the end in view of augmenting the nursing and health
needs of Filipinos in consonance with the programs of the Department
of Health.
It started in 1950 as St. Jude Clinic and Maternity
with a 12 bed capacity meant to cater to medical and maternity cases.
Faced with the growing community health needs and the rapid advances in
medical science, the founders, Dr. Ramon D. Atienza, Jr. And his wife Dr.
Felicidad Calip-Atienza, built a two storey concrete hospital edifice with
50 bed capacity.
With the passing of the years, the hospital expanded
from the two storey to a five storey hospital building. Thus, the hospital
became a general training ground and a teaching institution in 1968. As such,
complete facilities are provided for the comfort and convenience of both the
patients and the hospital staff. The building was inaugurated on the Feast
of St. Jude on October 28, 1968.
Today, the St. Jude General Hospital
may be counted among the modern and adequately equipped in the country. Above all,
St. Jude Hospital and Medical Center provides "Expert Care from Caring Experts".
The hospital expansion is a reflection of the dedication and foresight of a husband
and wife team. |
