Mr. & Ms. St. Jude 2008: An Event of Glamour and Glitz

In celebration of 40 Years of Quality Education Founded on Christian Values, it is high time that St. Jude College showcases what it has in terms of beauty, brains and talent. Several activities were lined up as the most prestigious search for the next Mr. & Ms. St. Jude College 2008 that kicked off last February 23 in SM City Manila where they held a Fashion Show and Press Presentation, a first of its kind in the history of the said pageant. It was attended by SJC students from all courses as well as their academic deans. Also present was Dr. Jesus G. Gallegos, VP for Academic Affairs. Twenty–two lovely and handsome candidates presented their best in the sports and uniform wear categories, where they were judged by the different representatives from major sponsors like Sabella, Occasions, Uni-Silver Time Pieces and SM City Manila.

Last February 29, the Talent Competition was held, which added excitement to the search. The candidates showcased their prowess in singing, dancing and other talents as they took their guts out one after the other. Present in this event were Dr. Evangeline A. Del Rosario, CEO/President , Dr. Benjamin A. Del Rosario, Corporate Treasurer and Dr. Teresita A. Calip-Corpus , the Executive Vice-President , academic deans, department heads and faculty members. The Talent Competition was sponsored by Skintel and Pregroe Skin and Hair Beauty Products, Sabella , Occasions , Reyes Haircutters and Negros Navigation – NN Oceanlink .

Finally the night the candidates have been awaiting for has finally come—the Coronation Night which was held last March 01 at the SJC Auditorium. It was truly a night of glitz and glamour with this year's theme “Gem Stones”. The candidates exhibited poise especially in the evening wear competition designed by Ms. Bibsy Mae S. Del Rosario of BMDR Fashion House. Comedienne/Actress/Fashion Icon Ms. Wilma Doesnt who really entertained the SJC students with her comic talent served as one of the judges. Ms. Jescel Z. Lomboy , a Nursing student bagged this year's crown for Ms. St. Jude College 2008, taking home Php 7, 500 cash prize, 100% full scholarship, gift packs from our sponsors and a round trip ticket to any destination in the country courtesy of Negros Navigation. While Mr. Genesis M. Estrella , another Nursing student bagged the title Mr. St. Jude College 2008, bringing home the same prizes. It was really a double victory for the School of Nursing . Gracing the affair was the presence of the members of the Board of Trustees, academic deans, department heads, faculty and staff of the different schools and SJC students.

This event would not have been possible without the stewardship of Beaux Mondes Events Management led by its Owner/Director, Joemel “Mamu” B. Ramos . This years pageant was chaired by Dean Alexander C. Rible of the School of International Hospitality Management with the support of all the Academic Deans, Department Heads, Faculty and Staff of the Different Schools , College Marketing, MIS, PFMO and Security Services.
